Project Manager

The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing BAU and Plant Maintenance projects, building client relationships, managing construction sites, and optimizing project performance. Primary responsibilities include planning, scheduling day-to-day site management, and overall execution with a focus on safety, quality, and cost. This role interfaces and works directly with crews, project managers, clients, and executive management.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the single point of contact to lead construction projects and manage the deployment, execution, and closeout of projects in rural, residential, and metropolitan areas.
  • Lead a team of in-house crews and subcontractors.
  • Manage the project budget, milestones, timelines, scope of work (SOW) definition, innovation, communication, resources, risks, customer satisfaction, vehicle maintenance, and full life cycle of the project with careful attention to profit, loss, and timelines/deadlines.
  • Using project metrics and trends accurately and consistently forecast future production, costs, timelines, and potential obstacles of the project.
  • Identify and develop cost containment and cost savings measures that increase profitability and reduce, eliminate or compensate for potential project losses. These measures must be consistent with our Core Values and mission and must not diminish our standards of performance or the quality of our work.
  • Consistently and accurately report project metrics including production, financials and timeline to senior management.
  • Track, review, and approve in-house and subcontractor daily production reports, create and manage progressive project documentation.
  • Perform onsite surveys and coordinate field meetings to ensure projects meet the delivery & commitment dates identified.
  • Meet with clients to review project scope, set expectations, and to ensure positive communication is maintained.
  • Sufficiently meet contract agreements, monitoring scope of work, change orders, and material procurement needs.
  • Ensure safety and quality control policies, practices, and expectations are met on a daily basis.
  • Utilizes public safety and security knowledge including relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
  • Manage relationships with customers, city officials, jurisdictional authorities, utility representatives, and the general public.
  • Other projects or duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of FTTH/telecommunication experience with a minimum of 3 years as a project manager with similar duties and responsibilities.
  • Must have the ability to manage the total project life cycle from end to end, encompassing initial design through all phases of Engineering to Construction through closeout and invoicing.
  • Ability to interrelate and communicate effectively with personnel at all levels of development activity.
  • Solution-focused and deadline-oriented with the ability to anticipate problems and master details.
  • Ability to assess, forecast, and drive production based on various crew types (Aerial, Underground, Splicing,) for both Self-Perform and Subcontract crews for Construction, as well as Engineering.
  • Ability to forecast and drive invoicing based off invoiceable milestones for both Construction and Engineering.
  • Must possess good computer skills with working knowledge of MS Office (Power Point & Excel), Google Suite (including Earth), DWG drawings, and Project Management Software.
  • Experience managing large projects with various resources including subcontractors, in-house, local and out-of-state subs/employees.
  • Proven ability to coach, develop, and promote high quality talent to include management experience in driving in-house crews and subcontractor performance to meet production, cost, revenue, and invoicing targets.
  • Experience in project schedules, cost engineering, budgeting, forecasting costs, status reports, procurement, and negotiation with subcontractors and material vendors required.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and extrapolate construction/engineering drawings, records, route maps, specifications, scopes of work, testing/QC, and auditing projects for compliance to SOW and contractual obligations.
  • Must have the experience to recognize when Change Orders are applicable, and ability to document, and submit.
  • Ability to accurately forecast resource needs based on production models with proper assumptions (Locates, Permitting, Standard Roadblocks, etc.).
  • Possess a ‘Safety First’ attitude and strict adherence to safety procedures.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, pass an MVR check, and is expected to drive as required to assigned projects to ensure on-time and on-budget project delivery.
  • Must be available to work some weekends and evenings when needed.
  • Ability to travel up to 75%.
