Underground Drill Laborer

The Telecommunications Drill Laborer supports the construction and maintenance of telecommunications infrastructure by performing various outdoor tasks related to aerial and underground installations. This role requires physical stamina, attention to safety protocols, and the ability to work in diverse weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in all phases of aerial and underground construction, including but not limited to loading, unloading, driving, digging, and handling construction materials and equipment.
  • Install and maintain aerial and underground telecommunications cabling.
  • Maintain drill equipment and tools in proper working condition.
  • Perform vacuum excavation (vac) and potholing to locate and expose underground utilities.
  • Transport equipment to and from jobsites safely and efficiently.
  • Set up safety perimeters using signage, cones, and barriers to protect the work area.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Communicate effectively with crew members to ensure coordinated and safe operations.
  • Adapt to working outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme cold, heat, rain, snow, andhigh winds.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; CDL preferred.
  • Previous experience in telecommunications, construction, or a related field is a plus.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and experience in setting up safety perimeters.
  • Ability to operate and maintain drill equipment and other construction tools.
  • Physical stamina to lift, carry, and handle materials of various sizes and weights.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Basic mechanical skills for maintaining equipment and tools.
